I’m Going to Jail on April 3rd
I forgot the presale for Kanye West’s “only” show in Los Angeles was this morning but thankfully my cousin didn’t. He sent me a screenshot of the queue and almost 91,000 people were ahead of him—for a stadium that sits 70,000. And this was for the presale and the official one goes live tomorrow morning. Yeezus Christ, I said to myself and continued about my morning, positive my cousin would be shut out of it. An hour later I got a beautiful update that he was able to snag a few tickets, and so it looks like I’ll be seeing Mr. West on April 3, 2026, assuming he doesn’t have a complete meltdown and cancel the whole thing between now and then.
This will be my fifth time seeing Ye, who will be the artist I’ve seen perform the most. I first saw him in 2013 when he was touring for Yeezus (Kendrick Lamar opened up for him at Staples Center). I then saw him in 2016 at the Forum in what I would describe as a religious experience (my favorite concert of his to date). I then saw him in 2019 at Coachella, the very memorable sermon on the mount on Easter Sunday. The last time was in 2021 for the Free Larry Hoover concert with Drake at the USC Coliseum (which definitely resulted in hearing loss). I love the artist. I love what his music makes me feel. I love his gonzo process of making and releasing albums. I love that he's always changing his sound with every new thing he puts out. I love seeing him perform. And I look forward to seeing him again in 2026. Yeezy season approaching.
